How Mopar® Brake Rotors Work

The brake rotor, which is also known as a disc brake, attaches to the tire's hub. When you step on the brake pedal, brake fluid rushes to the calipers, which then compress the brake pads against the brake rotor to create the resistance that slows your wheels down. Apply enough pressure and you come to a complete stop.

Brake rotors are generally constructed of a hard material, such as steel or cast iron, that enables them to stand up to the tremendous heat and pressure they encounter on a daily basis.

How to Spot Brake Rotor Problems
